Basoda

Kashi Bharat Milap at Nati Imli, Varanasi, the reunion of Rama and Bharat, enacted for a few minutes before an enormous crowd, a tradition several centuries old. Basoda is the northern name for Sheetala Ashtami, with cold food as in the Gujarati Shitla Satam. Guru Ravidas Jayanti (Magha Purnima) marks the fifteenth-century saint-poet of the Bhakti movement, central to the Ravidassia tradition and observed most heavily in Punjab and Varanasi. Jhulelal Jayanti is Cheti Chand, the Sindhi new year, on Chaitra Shukla Dwitiya.
