Birth anniversary of the Bhagavad Gita. Lord Krishna delivered the Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

Recitation of the Gita, often all eighteen chapters in one sitting. Discourses and study groups. The Ekadashi fast is kept as Mokshada Ekadashi, held to release ancestors.

Kurukshetra holds an International Gita Mahotsav over several days, the largest observance. ISKCON and Gita Press mark it widely. Less prominent as a public festival in the south, though the recitation is universal.
