Maharashtra farmers worship their bulls, thanking them for tilling the land. Bullocks are adorned with colour and decorations.
A festival for the bullocks. Working animals are bathed, their horns painted, decorated with ornaments and shawls, and, the essential part, given the day off entirely. They are led in procession and fed first, before the household eats. In cities and among families without cattle, clay bullocks are worshipped instead.
