Murugan's birth star. The six Krittikas nursed the six sparks from Shiva's third eye, and Parvati merged them into one six-faced child. All six Arupadai Veedu temples, Palani, Tiruchendur, Swamimalai, Thiruthani, Pazhamudircholai, Thiruparankundram, hold major observances.
Panchamirtham at Palani is famous; sandal paste abhishekam.
