Worship of Goddess Lakshmi on the Friday before Shravana Purnima. Widely observed in South India.
Married women worship Lakshmi in a decorated kalasha with a Lakshmi face fixed to it, dressed in a sari and jewellery. A nine- or twelve-knot thread is tied. Kept for the family's prosperity and the husband's wellbeing, and it is one of the most widely observed women's vrats in the south.
