Bharani Shraddha

Also called: Maha Bharani Shraddha

Maha Bharani Shraddha is an exceptionally auspicious and powerful observance during Pitru Paksha. It occurs when Bharani Nakshatra prevails during the afternoon hours (usually falling on Chaturthi or Panchami). According to the Skanda Purana and Kurma Purana, performing Shraddha on Bharani Nakshatra yields spiritual merit equivalent to performing Shraddha at the holy shrine of Gaya.
